The New Indianapolis International Airport

Environmental Permitting and Management Services

Indianapolis, Indiana

Metric Environmental provided all landside area environmental permitting, compliance tracking, and QA/QC review of environmental construction and implementation of the new Midfield Terminal Facility. These services included all media: air, solid and hazardous waste, and water permits. The air permits required completing and reviewing Title V permits for the Midfield Terminal Facility as well as several aviation facilities within the grounds and under the authority of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. Regarding solid and hazardous waste permitting, Metric Environmental conducted Tier III Compliance Audits on ten separate facilities within the airport properties. A Tier II soil and groundwater testing protocol was developed for subsurface testing, contaminant delineation, and corrective action plan development for site mitigation. The airport storm water permits included NPDES pretreatment permit for deicing and related run-off contaminants. Metric Environmental completed; 404/401 wetland mitigation plan permitting and compliance, and storm water project plans and storm water credits that conformed to the City of Indianapolis’ Storm Water MS-1 NPDES permit. Furthermore, Metric Environmental completed numerous standard operating procedures (SOP) for various stormwater and related watershed management operations and maintenance.
