What is your background?

I went to Penn State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and have been involved in the transportation/consulting industry for more than 30 years. I knew someone that knew someone that was looking for entry-level people for their company oh so many years ago and I feel I lucked into this industry. I started in the industry by walking new highway Right-of-Ways (ROW) looking for streams and wetlands, then moved into Noise Analysis and eventually into Project Management. It is never the same day twice at work. I also spend time volunteering through the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE), Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Professionals (PAEP) and Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS).

What are three career lessons you have learned?
  • Never burn your bridges.
  • Be nice to everyone, you never know when that co-worker may someday be reviewing a document or permit.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions, no one has all the answers and sometimes asking for help gets you more than you originally anticipated.
What kinds of projects have you completed in the past ten years?

Most of my recent work involves working with agencies to secure permits for clients, either with pipeline work, transportation projects or stream and wetland mitigation ventures. I have been working with many different clients and agencies across a variety of states completing Environmental Assessments for local departments of transportation, for growth at a local airport, and full Section 6(f) Analyses and Environmental Assessments for private clients.

What is something that you would consider one of your greatest professional accomplishments?

Having friends in this industry is definitely one of my greatest accomplishments. It is a competitive industry, so it is always nice to meet up with someone you haven’t seen in a number of years and be able to talk about your recent projects and family regardless of where you work. I am also very proud that I have been in this industry for the past 30 years. Consulting is not easy, but if you take care of your clients, they see that and want you on their team for their next project.

Name two things our clients can expect when working with you?
  • Determination to complete projects within budget and schedule
  • Ensured approachability and understanding of my client’s needs.
You are happiest when?

I am happiest when I am spending time with my family, mainly watching my son play baseball or basketball. I also really enjoy traveling and the planning that goes into the trips themselves. Anticipating seeing something or doing something I haven’t seen/tried yet is fun for me and I bring my family with me to share that enjoyment.

  • Honesty
  • Diligence
  • Accountability
  • Self- and Team Awareness
